Meet Kohana

The cat behind the name

In 2008, my now-husband (then-boyfriend) found a tiny black kitten at the dump — just four to six weeks old. We planned to adopt her out. Then she had other ideas.

She escaped her crate and squeezed beneath the house, small enough to fit inside the metal support beams. My husband crawled under the house multiple times trying to get her out, but she wouldn't budge.

One night, I sat outside and meowed. Again and again. And she came out.

That was the moment I knew she was mine.

Kohana was with us for sixteen years. She passed in 2024. Her name had already become part of my identity — it was my online handle back when I was deep in the gaming world. So when it came time to name this little beading studio, there was only ever one choice.

The Beadwork

I'm a self-taught beader, and I design all my patterns from scratch. I love creating pieces that are colorful, fun, and a little unexpected — from intricate geometric stars to playful character designs.

Every pattern is tested stitch by stitch and written with clear, detailed instructions so that beaders of all skill levels can follow along. All original designs are available as downloadable patterns on Etsy.
